This scholarship is a memorial in honor of Allen R Hemmingsen, who served the Gosper County Sheriff’s department as a deputy beginning in 1982 and then as Sheriff until 1990, Al was also the volunteer Emergency Manager for the county until his retirement. Al passed away in January 1999 and this is his family’s way of saying thank you to a county where he made his home and raised his family.
The scholarship will be given to a graduating high school senior who RESIDES in Gosper County Nebraska, regardless of what school they attend in our area. The student must be planning to go into a human services field of study, and preference will be given to students who are looking at law enforcement or emergency management as a career.
Guidelines for Students
- Seniors must Reside in Gosper County Nebraska, but can attend any high school in the area.
- Students must have a B average or better.
- Preference will be given to students entering a human services field of study, especially law enforcement or emergency care/management.
- Middle income students are preferred.
- The awarded student is at the complete discretion of the Hemmingsen family members who donate to the fund.
- Please include a senior photo with your completed application.
- Deadline for the Scholarship is April 1, 2014.
